“Luminance is an Italian based record label run by Marco Catapano and Alessandro Laezza focused on the contemplative and ecstatic sides of contemporary electronic music. The first offering from this new imprint is a Various Artists which feautures a wide spectrum of musical styles from young but highly talented musicians.

The release starts with Demetrio Cecchitelli’s ‘In Eine Welt Entrückt’: an elegant and intense compositions built around a mix of piano, flute and spoken word as well as some effective field recordings. Born in Bologna but currently living in Amsterdam, Bmbmnd continues the journey with his ‘Calathea Orbifolia’: a collaboration with the photographer Alc Ks which will have you floating up and down through clouds for 6 minutes in a sweet crescendo and diminuendo. The third composition of the release is from a great musician and video artist from Rome: Camilla Pisani. Divided into 3 parts, her ‘Everybody Leaves’ is a voyage into a fragile but luminous world which will deeply touch the most sensitive hearts.
Label owner Marco Catapano contributes with the 4th composition of the Album, a piece called ‘Terre Luminose’ which in English means ‘Luminous Lands’. The composition starts with a looped guitar which soon offers space to some choral elements and an epic organ chord progression, all combining together to create a sense of emotional tension.
The album goes on with ‘Atikan’ by Fluitudo, moniker of Alessandro Laezza, the co-owner of the Label, and Giuseppe Curzio. The piece sets itself in an hallucinated and slow moving dimension where spoken word meets trip hop influences with some nordic ambient elements.
Valerio Maiolo is the artist in charge for the 6th tune with his piece ‘Contemplation Of Blue’: starting with audio interferences the tune softly grows for 10 minutes until reaching its core point with an harmonica solo which, combined with the overtone singing, creates an unexpected ‘bluesy mantra’ that, we’re sure of this, has the power to heal broken souls.
‘Nowhere $$$’ by Davide Bartolomei is the closing piece of the Album: a shamanic and ancestral odyssey of rarefied sounds and haunting rhythms from a mysterious land.”
